In humans, there are three alleles for blood type: a, b, and o. a and b are codominant over o. suppose jim, a man with type a blood, and leah, a woman with type b blood, have a child, winnie. jim's parents both have blood type ab. leah's mother has type b, and her father has type o. part 1 of 3: what is the probability that winnie's blood type will be ab?

    Jim's parents both have blood type ab (both genotype ab) so their children genotype must be one of: 1. aa, 2. ab, 3. bb

    Because Jim have type A blood, his genotype must be aa

    leah's mother has type b (genotype bo or bb), and her father has type o (genotype oo) so their children genotype should be: 1. bo, 2. oo

    Since Leah blood type is B, then her genotype must be: bo

    The genotype of Jim (aa) and Leah (bo) offspring would be:

    1. 50% ab - - - >phenotype AB

    2. 50% ao - - - > phenotype B

    Then, the probability that Winnie's blood type will be ab is 50%
