Well apples have seeds and mosses have spores. Spores are more abundant but are less likely to reproduce because they have no nutrient or water stores or protection like seeds do. Seeds are more likely to germinate into a plant because they have everything they need within the seed casing.

They have an advantage because they actually produce something (in this case, the apple tree reproduces new apples) unlike fungi (mosses).
