The scientific method is described as non-linear because the steps of the method are repeated in a cycle. The answer is (a). Hypotheses are made, then tested, and then adjusted according to the results of the experiments. This process continues over and over, and it never truly ends. Even very well accepted theories like that of gravity are still being tested.
