Depends how you calculate things, different states can lay claim on producing the most commanders in chief. Going by birthplace, Virginia is the winner with eight of its native sons holding the countrys highest office (including the four of the first five presidents Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, James Monroe, William Henry Harrison, John Tyler, Zachery Tyler, and Woodrow Wilson.)
