Mammals like caribou that live in the arctic often use different lipid types in their legs. legs are more susceptible to heat loss than internal organs, which are closer to the body core and stay warmer. which adaptations would you expect for lipids in caribou legs?

    The lipids would be less saturated. They would be less saturated. In order to maintain fluidity at low temperatures, you want your hydrocarbon chains to interact less. Saturated bonds will branch off at angles, decreasing the contact area between the molecules and therefore decreasing intermolecular forces.

    The membranes would contain more cholesterol because cholesterol maintains fluidity too.
