The nucleus is the largest organelle cells, with a diameter of 10-20 nm. The nucleus has a round or oval shape. Almost all cells have a nucleus, because this nucleus plays an important role in cell activity, especially in the synthesis of proteins. However, there are some cells that do not have a nucleus, among others, erythrocytes and platelets cells. In both these cell metabolic activity is limited and can not do division. Usually a cell has only one nucleus only, which is located in the middle. However, there are cells that have a nucleus of more than one that is on the liver parenchymal cells and heart muscle cells, which have two nuclei. As for the skeletal muscle cells are much nucleus. The composition of the nucleus consists of the nuclear membrane, matrix, and the child nucleus.
a. The nucleus membrane (Karioteka)
Membranes molecular arrangement is similar to the molecular composition of cell membranes, which form lipoprotein. Also equipped with a nuclear membrane pores that can allow the relationship between nucleoplasm and cytoplasm. These pores play a role in the transfer of material between the nucleus and cytoplasm. The nuclear membrane can only be seen clearly by using an electron microscope. Nuclear membrane consists of two outer membranes and the membranes are membranes inside. Outer membrane contains ribosomes on the side that faces the cytoplasm and are often associated with the endoplasmic reticulum membrane.
b. Matrix (nucleoplasm)
Nucleoplasm consists of a core composed of a liquid substance core protein called nucleoprotein.
c. The core child (nucleolus)
Nucleolus is contained in the chromosomes, the fine threads of DNA. The chromosomes serves to:
1) determine the characteristics dimilikisel;
2) regulate cell shape;
3) determine the next generation.
DNA is organized in chromosomes contained in nucleoplasm, while the place of RNA synthesis occurs in the nucleolus.
