How does th melting of ice caps near the North Pole affect the salinity of the ocean

    The climate heats up fast enough and melts off the remaining polar ice rapidly, the influx of freshwater could disturb ocean currents enough to drastically change the weather on the land, as well.

    The melting of the polar ice caps decreases the salinity of the ocean. The polar ice caps are made fresh water, therefore, adding more fresh water to the ocean will decrease the salt concentration.
