How are the complex sugar molecules broken apart?

    First, they are broken down into simple sugars when introduced into the body. Then, the complex molecules start being broken down with ennzymes from the mouth. Finally, when in the cell, the sugar is changed into carbon dioxide (CO2) and water (H2O) over time.
