It is important for the internal environment of the body to be controlled and maintaining it constant a process called homeostasis. The nervous system and the hormones are responsible for this. Temperature in the body is controlled to maintain an optimum temperature for enzyme activities, which is controlled by controlling blood flow to the skin (vasodilation and vasoconstriction), sweating, and shivering
