    The answer is Energy Pyramid. This diagram shows the transfer of energy in an ecosystem from one trophic level to another. The reason it’s a pyramid is due to the nature of energy transfer through trophic levels which are highly inefficient. Only 10% of biomass is passed from one trophic level to another. The other is lost mostly as heat. This is why the number of organisms decreases the higher the trophic level in the pyramid
