The situation that is most similar in which a plant is moved to a higher concentration of salt in water is that of a freshwater plant being put into sea water.

Due to too much salt concentration, freshwater plants cannot survive on the ocean. If you ever see a plant wilting and am sure that this is because of soil imbalance, this can be solved by adding more water to even out the concentration.
