Magnesium sulphate is the drug used for preeclampsia but it was dangerous because it could depress the nervous system. The disrupted nervous system could appear as loss of patellar reflex or paralysis of the muscle of respiratory.

In case of toxicity, the antidote (calcium gluconate) should be administered.
