Nutrients from digested food move from the digestive system directly into the bloodstream. The walls of the small intestine absorb the digested nutrients into the blood which then delivers the nutrients to the rest of the body. The blood capillaries absorb most of the nutrients, but the fats are absorbed by the lymph capillaries (lacteals).
