This is the process by which land, mainly due to overgrazing, deforestation, or inappropriate agriculture, loses vegetation and soil moisture.

    The answer is desertification. When a land’s natural resources are overexploited by human activity, degradation beings through loss of vegetation leaving the soil bare. The nutrients in the soil are then eroded by elements leaving baren ground. The water table of the land also decreases making the land drier.
