It is true that the solar system may have begun as a nebula. Nebula is basically just a cloud consisting of small particles and dust. Once upon a time, a long long time ago, when the planets and the stars didn't yet exist, there was a giant cloud made up of particles and space dust from which the Sun was created, and later on the planets that gravitate around it. This was the very beginning of the solar system we live in.
