The sun provides photoautotrophs (plants that make their own energy) with energy through the process of photosynthesis. Other organisms eat the plants and receive 10% of the energy that they consume. Humans eat plants and animals since we are omnivores. We receive our energy from the plants and animals that ate the plants.
