What allowed the sumerians to pursue activities other than finding food?

    The invention of the wheel gave the Sumerians the ability to be mobile. By having a mode of transportation other than on foot, the Sumerians could widen their travel abilities and undertake activities not including food-gathering. By being more mobile, trade also increased, which increased the sphere of the culture's influence.
