The answer is insulin. Insulin is secreted in the pancreas. When glucose level in the blood increases, insulin causes the liver to convert glucose into glycogen and causes muscle cells and fat tissue cells to take up glucose. That is why genetically engineered insulin is used to control glucose level in the blood in people with diabetes.
