The three main particles in the center of an atom are:

    1. Protons (positive charge)

    2. Electrons (negative charge)

Protons and neutrons are the sub-atomic particles found in the center of an atom. Located in the center of an atom is the atom's nucleus, which contains only protons and neutrons.

Electrons are found in outer orbitals of the atom - or, in the modern atomic model, electron clouds - and are never found in the nucleus, or the center, of an atom.
