The correct answer is option A.

A marine bloom or an algal bloom refer to a brisk enhancement in the population of algae in an aquatic system. It can take place in freshwater as well as in marine environments.

Some of the algal blooms are the outcomes of an excess of nutrients mainly the nitrogen into water bodies, and higher amount of these nutrients in water results in increased growth of green plants and algae.

Nitrogen is a basic necessity for the growth of these organisms also known as producers, thus, this excess nitrogen level leads to more growth of these species resulting into a phenomenon known as algal bloom.
