How does the diversity of life in the subtidal zone compare to that of the upper intertidal zone?

The upper intertidal zone is one of the zones with harshest weather condition for a marine life to live. Sometimes under water and in open air and under direct sunlight with a constant battle with the waves. Upper Intertidal zone is home to the sea stars, crabs, barnacles, and corals. These marine life has adapted well to changing conditions of the shore. The subtidal zone, on the other hand, is the home of different types of algae and fishes, also found here are the sea urchins and periwinkles. This zone is exposed during extreme low tides but most of the time is submerged underwater.
