Water can seep into rocks and dissolve minerals. The dissolved minerals can be washed away. What type of weathering is this? Explain your answer.

    Weathering is the wear and tear/damaging of rocks on the Earth's surface - by the action of rainwater, extremes of temperature, and biological activity. There are 3 types of weathering, physical, chemical and biological.

    Any process that exerts a stress on a rock that eventually causes it to break into smaller fragments is a type of mechanical weathering.
