Type 1 diabetes is often called "childhood diabetes" and this means the person just has a total lack of insulin meaning their bodies just cant make enough insulin so they are insulin dependent. Type 2 diabetes "adult-onset" is acquired by the over use of insulin receptors in the body this causes them to have too little insulin and or causes them to not be able to use the insulin effectively
