    This relates to the concept of trophic levels. Grass is a primary producer, whereas zebra would a primary consumer, situated one trophic level above grass. If you work on the assumption that 10% of energy is transferred from one trophic level to the next, then the zebra would obtain 10% of 100,000 kcal, i. e. 10,000 kcal.
