I think that it will prevent infection by this pathogen. In a gram-positive bacteria a polysaccharide serves as specific adhesin To effectively achieve adherence to host surfaces, many bacteria produce multiple adherence factors called adhesisns. Which are expressed by both pathogenic bacteria and saprophytic bacteria.
