A. Contour lines that have numbers that are getting bigger as you go inward would indicate that you have a mountain (or hill) - so that would be increasing in elevation.

Contour lines that have numbers that are getting smaller as you go inward would indicate that you have a depression (a crater, for example) - so that would be decreasing in elevation.

b. If you found on a map an area with 10 evenly spaced contour lines that would indicate a uniform steep slope (the closer together the steeper the slope, the wider the gentler the slope).
