The few dandelions developed a resistance to the herbicide and the herbicide would not be effective in the control of future generations of dandelions because the future generations would be offspring of the resistant strain of dandelions which means the herbicide wouldn't have an effect on them. This principle has become a concern in the world of farming with the introduction of agent orange corn and round up ready GMOs. These GMOs have their genetic code altered to become resistant to their respective herbicides viz. Agent Orange and Round Up. If weeds were able to somehow be able to get thst gene.
