Weathering is a process of braking down of rocks into smaller and fine particles. There a lot of different things that cause weathering and some of them are physical weathering and chemical weathering. Frost action is a physical weathering process, it is one of the most important weathering process and it takes place in cold climate conditions. Frost action is caused by repeated actions of freezing an thawing, when a rock is continuously frozen the cracks in the rock increase or become bigger and bigger which then leads to the rock or rocks breaking down into smaller and smaller peaces therefore causing weathering. This weathering process only occurs below and above the temperature of 32 degrees F (0 degrees calcius).
