A distinct and diverse group of Protista is most closely related to archaebacteria for they are both single celled organism. Protista are broad group of eukaryotes that includes all eukaryotic organisms that are not plants, animals or fungi. Some scientists believe that eukaryotes descended directly from archaebacterial and a large number of protists live as parasites of animals and plants as archaebacteria do.
