    The answer is a ‘series of steps in which enzymes work one at a time to convert a compound to a related compound’. The intermediate products of metabolic pathways are called metabolites. An example of a metabolic cycle is the Glycolysis and Krebs cycles. The product in each step of the metabolic pathways becomes the substrate of the next step in the pathway.
