What should you do when there is a doubt about coverage for a test or the managed care plan indicates a test is not covered?

    First I would call my insurance company to see if the test was covered or not. If the test is not covered, my next step would be to contact the Doctors office and explain the situation. Hopefully, they could get the insurance to cover the test or recommend another similar test that would be covered. If none of this worked I would talk to the hospital or whomever was providing the test to see if the price could be negotiated down to a lower cost if I paid them cash.
