Why is there little incentive for legislators to fight for an overall reduction in government spending?

    Because Legislastors do not have to fear bankruptcy when operational efficiency is not achieved.

    Private sectors operate using their own capital. Public officials on the other hand, operates by using civilian's tax money.

    So, technically speaking, more government spending means that all those government obtain more Income and they are not personally tied for the outcome of their behavior.
