A settlement house could be best described a house built and established in poor urban areas with the objective of promoting interdependent interaction among the rich and the poor.
These settlement houses are funded from the charitable donations of the rich donors. Some of these wealthy donors often volunteer their time and expertise. The houses offer food, shelter, and basic education to the poor.
