If employees feel that their careers are not advancing at the pace they want or if they are stagnated then morale strongly diminish. If people are given promotions for having extra job relationships with bosses but not based on performance morale would decline If the company falls to comply with law requirements or become a non value actor to the comunity then morale diminish.
