Why do investors analyze cash flow statements before investing in a business?

    The income statement will record sales and profits but it's the cash flow statement that will alert you if those sales aren't generating enough cash to cover expenses. Cash flow analysis measures how much cash is generated and spent by a business during a given period of time.
