Explanation:
Restricting the access of the user temporarily / permanently is termed as disabling customer.
Example:
If you have a website and you want to restrict the user from logging in, then the customer need not be deleted he can be disabled from logging in.
Reason:

Difference between deleting and disabling:
If you delete the customer instead of disabling, then the customer needs to create new account and history of the customer will be lost.
