    The Federal Government and the State Government are not very different from each other. The State takes care of itself and the Federal Government takes care of the nation.

    For that reason therefore, the State mirrors the federal government a lot in the way that it runs its operations save for some matters that are strictly the responsibility of the Federal Government such as National Defense.

    This means that should a Federal Agency exist, it will probably exist at a state level as well to enable the state to give to it's people the same service but at a local level.

    For example, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation mirrors the duties of the Federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
