To answer the question it is better to understand the terms.

W-4 Form is used to calculate how much federal tax will be with hold form your pay based on the information provided by you. It is a mandatory form which is asked your new employer to be filled by you. This is Internal Revenue Service Department form.

Form I-9 is provided by United States Citizenship and Immigration Services Department. This form is mandatory when starting a new job. It states your eligibility to work in USA.

Form W-2 is completed by employer at the end of each year on behalf of each employee to the Internal Revenue Service Department. This form shows the IRS department that how much amount has been with hold from the employees' salary during that period. The form is submitted to IRS in January each year.

Form 1040 is completed by employee to file returns against federal taxes with hold and paid to IRS on behalf of each employee. It includes the total taxable income and how much amount to be refunded or paid to IRS.
