Why are you not allowed to wear flip flops/sandals at most retail workplaces?

a. They break more easily than shoes.

b. They offer less protection than shoes.

c. They do not fit into most company cultures.

I'd say all of the above. If you work in retail, you will be doing quite a bit of physical work which is why wearing flip flops or sandals may not be the best choice because it is not the most comfortable type of footwear that people can wear. it also doesn't look very professional
