Calculate the mass of products obtained when 20 g of methane undergoes combustion in the presence of 16 g of oxygen?

    I'm only married to a Chemist, so I don't know much Chemistry. But as an

    Engineer, I do know that mass is conserved, meaning that it's never created

    and it doesn't disappear.

    So if you start out with (20 + 16) = 36 grams of material feeding into the reaction,

    then at the end, if you add up the leftover methane, the leftover oxygen, and the

    puddle of whatever was formed when methane and oxygen combined, you have to

    wind up with the same 36 g of mass that you started with.

    Look for the mm mass of methane then u divide it with the mass of methane given then u divide with the mass of oxygen the final answer is 0.0625
