Explain why iodine spontaneously sublimes in open air at 25.0 ∘

    The characteristic of an Iodine which has a much higher vapour pressure could be held responsible of its spontaneous sublimation. Even though is has a greater intermolecular force (Van der Waals), it would still have the tendency to change the phase into a gaseous state when the pressure reaches 1 atm.
