Paul's science class fills an ice cube tray with water. The tray is placed in a freezer for a day. The water freezes forming ice. The tray is removed from the freezer and left on a counter for a day.     Phase changes, i. e. "solid to liquid", "liquid to gas", etc are all changed in energy state.

    The molecules in a solid have less energy, so they don’t move around, getting the rigid form of the ice. In The state of liquid, water molecules have enough energy to rotate around and tumble over each other.
