    Phosphatidylcholine is used for synthesis of sphingomyelin.

    Phosphatidylcholine is composed of a choline head group and glycerophosphoric acid, with a variety of fatty acids. On the other hand, sphingomyelin is comprised of a phosphocholine head group, a sphingosine, and a fatty acid.
