The nucleus of an atom consists of both neutrons and protons.

    Neutrons have zero electrical charge.

    Protons have a positive charge.

Stable Carbon has 6 protons and 6 neutrons.

Some Carbon atoms may have more or less than 6 neutrons, these are called Carbon Isotopes.
