Hydrogen gas is produced between the reaction of magnesium and dilute hydrochloric acid. This can be collected using a measuring cylinder. The reaction that occurs is exothermic and not endothermic. While the reaction between magnesium and hydrochloric acid occurs, the flask may get a little warm. there is a definite method by which the experiment needs to be done for collecting the hydrogen gas produced. The experiment is done in a conical flask and it is connected with an inverted measuring cylinder that is put in a trough of water.
