Explain the difference between an organic compound and a hydrocarbon

An organic compound is any member of a large class of gaseous, liquid, or solid chemical compounds whose molecules contain carbon and a hydrocarbon is compound of hydrogen and carbon, such as any of those that are the chief components of petroleum and natural gas.
