A transform fault boundary is when they slide past each other (think earthquakes) and at a convergent plate boundary they collide with one another, sometimes resulting in the subduction of one plate beneath the other, which is observed on the western coast of the U. S. Is that what you mean by "push" as a movement of plate tectonics?
