In which of the molecules does the central atom utilize d orbitals to form hybrid orbitals?

    Well, when there is a tetrahedral shaped molecule involve itself in a double bond, it doesn't have any more p orbitals to form the pi bond. because sp3 uses all 3 p orbitals, it would need to pull an orbital from the d shell.

    an example molecule would be PO4 3-
