    The correct answer is " passive transport involves movement of substances down their concentration gradient. This is the correct answer because passive transport requires no membrane transporter that would use ATP for energy which would be "active transport". Without the use of an ATP driven transporter, the only way molecules can travel between membranes is by going from an area of high concentration, through the passive transporter, to an area of low concentration.
