Magnesium reacts with hydrochloric acid, HCl, to form magnesium chloride and hydrogen gas. The reaction is:

Mg + 2HCl → MgCl2 + H2

What is the mass of HCl that would be required to completely react with 5.2 grams of Mg?

    5.2 / 24.3 = 0.214

    0.214 x 2 = 0.428

    0.428 x 36.5 = 15.6g
